Descrição:
Blood meal is a nitrogen amendment that you can add to your garden. The adding to soil will help raise the acid level of the soil and will to help plants to grow more lush and green. Which is beneficial to some kinds of plants that prefer soils with low pH (acidic soil). With a very concentrated form of nitrogen and too much nitrogen in the soil can, at best, keep the plants from flowering or fruiting and, at worst, “burn” the plant and possibly kill them. And is also used as a deterrent for some animals, such as moles, squirrels and deer. It is thought the smell of blood meal is not appealing to these animals.
Blood meal is dried, powdered blood used as a high-nitrogen fertilizer and a high protein animal feed. N= 13.25%, P = 1.0%, K = 0.6%. It is one of the highest non-synthetic sources of nitrogen and if over-applied it can burn plants with excessive ammonia. Is completely soluble and can be mixed with water to be used as a liquid fertilizer. It usually comes from cattle as a slaughterhouse by-product. It may also be used as an animal food supplement and is in fact widely used due to the high lysine content, though at least one one major marketer is offering blood meal derived from hogs, due to BSE concerns.
Nitrogen is more typically missing from soils than the other elements provided by most fertilizers (phosphorus and potassium). Plants grown in soil lacking proper amounts of nitrogen will yellow from the leaves down due to nitrogen deficiency. Applying blood meal will help plants become green again.
