The export potential of grains Russia's exports in the 2024-2025 season are estimated at 57 million tons. This volume represents a significant reduction compared to the record 72 million tons exported in the previous season. The information was released this Wednesday by Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut.

According to Lut, Russian companies exported 37 million tons in the first half of the season. However, there was a cut of almost 70% in export quotas for the second half of the period, a measure adopted to protect the domestic market and guarantee national supply.

During a conference on agriculture in Moscow, Lut highlighted: “We have already set export quotas to ensure we meet the needs of the domestic market.”

In addition, the minister stated that the total sowing area for the 2025 harvest in Russia will increase by 1 million hectares. With this growth, the total planting area will reach 84 million hectares.

She added that agricultural producers would receive 42 billion rubles ($429.45 million) in government subsidies in the form of short-term loans. According to Lut, 82% of the winter grain crop is in good condition.

Last year, extreme weather conditions affected grain harvests in Russia. These factors included early spring frosts and drought. These events hit the southern regions, known as the country's traditional breadbasket.
