India, one of the world's main fertilizer importers, is investing in urea production. The Asian country has six new plants, five of which have been completed.

As a result, the Indian input industry increased its production by 6.5 million tons, almost the volume that the country imported in 2021 – 7 million tons.

In total, India has the capacity to produce 30 million tonnes of urea annually.

The new investments suggest that Indians will reduce their dependence on foreign markets. The country mainly buys inputs from China.
