A Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (Abiove) estimated this Thursday the harvest of soy Brazil's production in 2025 will reach a record 169.6 million tons. Despite this, the entity slightly reduced the forecast by 0.8% compared to the March figure. Production in 2025, with the harvest almost complete, is expected to grow by around 10% compared to 2024, when the weather affected productivity in states such as Mato Grosso, according to data from Abiove.
With China absorbing a larger share of Brazilian exports at the beginning of the year — amid the trade war with the United States —, Abiove raised its forecast for Brazilian soybean exports in 2025 by 2.3%. The projected volume reached a record 108.5 million tons, which also represents an annual increase of around 10%.
The association, which represents traders and industries, also estimated Brazil's soybean processing in 2025 at a record 57.5 million tons. This represents an annual growth of 3%.
On the other hand, Abiove reduced its forecast for the country's final soybean stocks for 2025 by 40.6%. The revision is due to the heated demand in the domestic and foreign markets. As a result, stocks are expected to close the year at 5.4 million tons. Even so, this volume represents an annual increase of 30.4%.
The government estimated revenue from exports of the soybean complex (grains, meal and oil) in 2025 at US$$ 52.78 billion. The figure exceeds the US$$ 51.57 billion forecast in March, but is below the total recorded in 2024, which was US$$ 53.9 billion.
Brazil is the largest exporter of soybeans, one of the country's main export products.
