Cotton/Cepea: Values fall at the turn of the month

After registering small variations throughout much of October, cotton lint prices fell a little more strongly at the end of the month and beginning of November, reflecting the cautious attitude of buyers. Between October 25th and November 1st, the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator with payment in 8 days, referring to plume 41-4, posted in Sao Paulo, fell by 0.46%, closing at R$ 2.5156/lp on Tuesday , 1s.
 

In October, the indicator fell 0.68%. Part of the industries showed interest in new acquisitions, but at values lower than those requested by sellers. Furthermore, several lots of cotton lint made available to the spot market are of low quality? not approved in pre-fixed contracts?, according to employees consulted by Cepea. Cotton farmers with higher quality cotton, in turn, remained firm in their sales values.
