Issue No. 666 of the magazine Chemistry and Derivatives featured the participation of Felipe Camargo, manager of the Oleochemical Products unit at Aboissa, in a special report on the advances and challenges of the biofuels sector.

In the article, Felipe discusses the leading role of soy oil in the Brazilian biodiesel matrix and the technical obstacles generated by raw materials with high acidity — a factor that directly impacts yield and production costs. It also brings to light innovative and sustainable solutions that are already being applied in the market, such as the renewable fuel developed in partnership with companies in the sector. With high calorific value and lower storage temperature, the product has been gaining ground as an alternative to BPF mineral oil. Companies are already exporting it to Europe with ISCC certification.

Furthermore, Felipe draws attention to a global trend: the search for non-food sources in the production of biofuels, in order to avoid the conflict between energy and food security. Examples such as cashew nut liquid (CNSL) demonstrate the potential for diversification and sustainability of the sector.
