According to Imea's weekly analysis, released on Monday (28), the sowing Corn production in the United States reached 24% of the area forecast for the 2025/26 harvest. The information is based on data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) report. This index represents an increase of 12 percentage points compared to the previous week. In addition, it is two points ahead of the average of the last five years.

According to the USDA, the country's top producing states have already surpassed the historical pace. "Corn Belt states such as Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Nebraska are mostly planting ahead of the average of the last five years," the department reported.

Furthermore, these four states were responsible for 54% of the total corn production in the 2024/25 harvest. This scenario indicates a more accelerated start to the cycle, mainly favored by the field conditions observed so far.

Regarding the climate scenario, the United States National Weather Service (NOAA) projects near-normal precipitation levels in May for much of the producing region. However, despite the neutral forecast, the institute points out a risk factor. Historically, the North Atlantic experiences hurricane seasons, which can influence the climate and the development of American crops.
