The grain production outlook for the 2016/2017 harvest in Mato Grosso was maintained at 53.2 million tons by the National Supply Company (Conab). The state is responsible for 24.7% of national production, which is estimated at 215.1 million tons in a new projection for the next cycle. The volume announced for the country slightly exceeds the 214.8 million tons in the survey released in October.
Conab maintained its forecast for Mato Grosso of grain production between 52.8 million and 53.2 million tons. The outlook is higher than the 43.4 million tons harvested in the last cycle.
Unlike Mato Grosso, Conab for Brazil increased from 214.8 million tons to 215.1 million. If the projection is confirmed, it will mean an increase of 15.6% compared to the 186.1 million tons harvested in the previous cycle.
Soy remains the main crop in Mato Grosso, with a forecast of 29.1 million tons, and in Brazil with 103.5 million.
In 2nd harvest corn, 21.4 million tons are estimated for Mato Grosso and 56 million for the country.
Seed cotton in Mato Grosso is expected to reach 2.3 million tons, of which 976 thousand tons are lint. The country already has 3.7 million tons of seed cotton, 1.4 million of which is lint.
