The 2024/25 soybean harvest in Argentina reached 14.5% of the total estimated area. The total planted corresponds to 18.4 million hectares. The data are up to last Thursday (24), according to a weekly analysis by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea). The analysis was based on information from the Cereal Exchange.
According to Imea, the weekly increase was 9.6 percentage points. This positive result, in turn, is associated with the longer period of sunshine observed throughout the week, which significantly favored activity in the crops, as reported by the institute.
However, despite the progress, the harvest pace is still 11 percentage points below that recorded in the same period of the previous harvest. This delay is largely attributed to excessive rainfall at the beginning of the operation, which made it difficult to move machinery in the field and compromised the initial schedule.
In addition, the regions with the best performance last week were the North Core, San Luís and South Core, standing out with the highest percentages of harvested area. When it comes to crop conditions, the Cereal Exchange pointed out a significant improvement. “Approximately 80% of the areas are in excellent or normal condition, which represents an improvement of 17 percentage points compared to the same period of the 2023/24 harvest”, highlighted the entity.
Finally, the team (or responsible body) estimated the average yield of the harvested areas at 57 bags per hectare. There was an increase of 0.88% compared to the previous week.
