Chicken: with the rise in inputs and the fall in live prices, purchasing power declines

The purchasing power of poultry farmers in São Paulo in relation to the main inputs used in the activity, corn and soybean meal, fell in this part of January. Data from Cepea indicate that purchasing power in relation to oilseed derivatives in SP is the lowest since March 2021 and, in relation to cereals, since May of last year.

According to Cepea researchers, this scenario is linked to strong advances in input prices, while live chicken prices are falling. As for chicken, the lower demand for the meat in January caused slaughterhouses to reduce demand for the live animal, which put pressure on prices.
