IGC raises estimate for world grain harvest 2023/24 by three million tons

In its May report, released this Thursday (18), the International Grains Council (IGC) raised the estimate for world grain production [soybeans, corn, wheat and rice] by three million tons. ] in the 2023/24 cycle to 2.294 billion tons.

The council increased its global grain trade forecast for the 2023/24 season by one million tonnes to 408 million.

The IGC increased the projection for world consumption in the 2023/24 harvest by nine million tons, now forecast at 2.302 billion tons.

Global stocks at the end of the 2023/34 period should be around 580 million tons, a decrease of one million tons compared to the previous survey, in April.
