Auctions negotiate support for the flow of more than 300 thousand tons of corn

Continuing the actions to support prices for corn producers, new auctions to support the flow of grain were held by the National Supply Company (Conab) this Thursday (6). The operations covered the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and Distrito Federal, where the market price is below the minimum calculated by the federal government.

At the Equalizer Premium Paid to Rural Producers (Pepro) auction, a subsidy was negotiated for the sale and disposal of 237.94 thousand tons of corn from Mato Grosso. In total, a premium was offered for 720 thousand tons: 240 thousand tons for Mato Grosso, 240 thousand tons for Mato Grosso do Sul and 240 thousand tons for Goiás and the Federal District.

The Runoff Award (PEP) sold support for 70 thousand tons of corn, 60 thousand MT and 10 thousand MS. The operation, aimed at industries, offered a premium for the flow of 180 thousand tons of corn, 60 thousand tons for Mato Grosso, 60 thousand tons for Mato Grosso do Sul and another 60 thousand tons, distributed between Goiás and the Federal District.

In addition to the operations and today, since April, Conab has offered Pepro for 4.3 million tons of MT corn, with a winning prize for 2.52 million. PEP was also offered, through a public auction, for 3.28 million tons from the same state and a premium was negotiated for 1.71 million tons.

Two other Pepro and PEP auctions are already scheduled for next Thursday (13). On that occasion, Pepro will be offered for the sale and flow of 880 thousand tons of corn grains, harvest 2016/2017 and 2017 to producers in MT, MS, GO and DF. The PEP will be used to transport 320 thousand tons of corn grains from the same states.

These operations were authorized by the Interministerial Council of Public Stocks (Ciep) at the beginning of April, through interministerial orders, and are intended to guarantee prices for corn producers and encourage the flow of surplus production to large consumer centers.
