Brazil receives vice-ministers of agriculture of Brics

The Ministries of Agriculture of Russia, India, China and South Africa have already confirmed their presence at the meeting of Vice Ministers of Agriculture of the Brics (bloc that brings together the five countries) scheduled to take place on July 17 and 18 in Brasília . This meeting precedes the 9th meeting of Brics Ministers of Agriculture, to be held in Bonito (MS) in September, with the theme "Promotion of Innovation and Actions for the Development of New Solutions for Food Production Systems".

The bloc comprises five developing countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) representing about 42% of the world population, 23% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product), 30% of the territory and 18% of GDP. world trade.

Brazil holds the rotating presidency of the bloc this year. The focus of the meetings will be the promotion of science, technology and innovation; of the digital economy; the increase in contacts between the productive sector and the projects developed by the New Development Bank (NDB) of the BRICS.


On Wednesday (17), Minister Tereza Cristina should welcome and welcome the representatives of the delegations in the Sala Moacir Micheletto, in the mezzanine of the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture. Soon after, the delegation goes to the headquarters of Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Company) to visit the laboratories that test new sugarcane varieties and seed banks and seedlings.

In the afternoon, the group meets in the auditorium of the MPLS to discuss guidelines related to the development of agriculture in member countries. The meeting will be led by Ambassador Orlando Ribeiro, Secretary of Commerce and International Relations of the Ministry, with the presence of the Deputy Ministers of Agriculture of the BRIC countries. On Thursday (18), discussions continue, ending with bilateral meetings between member countries.
