China has reported through the General Administration of Customs and the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs that it has lifted restrictions on imports of poultry and US products.

The measure begins immediately after four years of prohibition, starting in 2015 due to the outbreak of the bird flu season in the United States. After the decision, US officials estimate an increase of US $ 1 billion in exports.

"China is a major export market for poultry farmers in America, and we estimate that they will now be able to export more than $ 1 billion in poultry and poultry products each year to China," said the US trade representative. Robert Lighthizer, in a statement.

In a briefing on Thursday (14), Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng said his country is in deep discussions with the United States for the first phase of the trade agreement and that the tariff cancellation would be an important condition for the pact.
