The Brazilian state of Mato Grosso produced its largest soybean crop on record, AgriCenso reported the State Institute of Agriculture IMEA as saying.

Soybean production in Mato Grosso totaled 59.3 bags/ha in 2021/22, according to IMEA, representing an increase of 3.3% compared to the previous year.

Based on the latest figures, the state produced 40.9 million tons of soybeans in 2021/22, according to IMEA, an all-time record and 13.3% more than in 2021/22.

IMEA used satellite imagery to calculate the total soybean planted area for 2021/22 at 11.5M ha, an increase of 5.1% compared to the previous estimate released in early May and a jump of 9.7% compared to the previous campaign.

High prices and robust demand were driving the increase in soybean acreage, IMEA said.

Meanwhile, 2021/22 corn estimates were reduced by 0.5% to 39.2 million tonnes, in line with IMEAs forecasts reported by AgriCensus on June 7.
