The Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (ABIOVE) released updated projections for the Soybean Complex in 2025, maintaining the sector's record outlook. Furthermore, the data was accompanied by positive results in the industry's monthly performance.
In May, the volume Processed soybean processing reached 4.87 million tons—an increase of 2.1% compared to April and 13.6% compared to the same month in 2024, when adjusted for the sample percentage. Year-to-date, processing totaled 21.33 million tons, representing an increase of 5.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.
"We're experiencing a positive year for soybean processing, with record growth expected. This performance is in line with the scenario of an increase in the mandatory biodiesel blend, which will now incorporate B14 and B15 in 2024," highlights Daniel Furlan Amaral, Director of Economics and Regulatory Affairs at ABIOVE.
According to the executive, the increased demand for soybean oil has also sustained the industry's activity levels at high levels. In other words, both the domestic market and regulatory guidelines are favoring the growth of domestic production.
Soybean production on the rise and exports maintain a positive pace
Projections for the year remain high. Soybean production is expected to reach 169.7 million tons, while crushing is projected at 57.8 million tons, a slight increase of 0.5%. Soybean meal and oil production are expected to reach 44.5 million tons and 11.6 million tons, indicating increases of 0.9% and 1.3%, respectively.
In the international scenario, the numbers remain positive. Brazil is expected to export 109 million tons of soybeans, an increase of 0.9%. Meal exports are expected to remain at 23.6 million tons. On the other hand, soybean oil exports are expected to decline by 3.6%, being adjusted to 1.35 million tons. Soybean oil imports are estimated at 100,000 tons. Soybean imports are expected to reach 500,000 tons, as a way to supplement domestic supply.
