The dry and hot season is expected to continue until mid-October. According to Climatempo, this is due to the delay in the rains expected for the beginning of spring. The company, which specializes in meteorology and weather forecasting, indicates that the season, which begins on September 22, will not bring immediate rain. September is expected to remain dry and hot, especially in areas of the Central region of Brazil and part of the Northeast. Affecting states such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Bahia, Tocantins, Maranhão and Piauí.

“The dry weather will result in a delay in the planting of summer crops. And this delay may impact the phenological phases of soybeans, such as grain filling and harvesting next year,” explains Dayane Nascimento Figueiredo, a meteorologist at Climatempo. The lack of rain is already delaying the planting of important crops, such as soybeans and beans.

Furthermore, the 2025 second corn crop may face delays in installation and impacts on the productivity of perennial crops, such as coffee and sugarcane, due to water stress. This scenario may also affect the flowering of coffee and oranges, highlights the meteorologist. She points out that Brazil is in a transition of seasons and climatic phenomena, with more regular rainfall forecast from the second half of October in producing areas of Mato Grosso, Goiás, northern Mato Grosso do Sul and Triângulo Mineiro.

“In October, there will be more regular rainfall from the second half of the month in these areas, while in the producing regions of São Paulo and the South of Minas Gerais, regular rainfall may occur in the first half of the month,” concludes Dayane Nascimento.
