US weekly cotton sales fall from 20/21 harvest, but jump from 21/22

Weekly cotton sales in the United States in the 2020/21 harvest, between April 23 and 29, totaled 63,700 bales, according to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA, in English) this Thursday (06). Weekly drop of 17% and volume 56% lower than the average of the last four weeks.

The main destination for North American sales last week was Pakistan, with a record of 19.20 thousand bales. In the 2021/22 harvest, there was a jump in the net sales report to 61.20 thousand bales of North American feather, with 21.60 thousand bales purchased by Bangladesh.

Considering the two harvests, sales of 124.90 thousand bales were recorded in the week ending April 29.

Shipments for the period totaled 456.60 thousand tons, an increase of 34% compared to the previous week and around 35% higher than the average of the previous four weeks calculated by the USDA. China was the main destination with 155 thousand bales, including 78.60 thousand bales in arrears.
