New lockdowns in China are expected to disrupt maritime trade

This week, the Chinese government decreed new lockdowns with the aim of combating new variants of Covid-19.

In the port of Shanghai, more than 500 ships are waiting to dock due to lack of labor.

Today (12), the president of the shipping company MSC do Brasil, Elber Justo, said that the restrictions will disrupt business. “Covid, although we think it is behind us, will continue to impact our business in the coming months” said the executive.

Brazilian coffee, shipped to the Asian country in containers and taken along sea routes, tends to be one of the most affected products.
